ABOUT ME: My name is Luckson Omoaregba. I am fourth year student at the UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND with a major in Communications and a double minor in Leadership Studies and Sociology.

 

This website highlights my experinces as a FLITE Peer leader,a   Consultant in the Student Organizational Leadership Consultants, a student in the HDF 412: HISTORICAL, MULTI-ETHNIC, & ALTERNATIVE LEADERSHIP, and a student in HDF492, Portfolio . All three expereinces have really helped grow as a leader and also as a person.

 

In FLITE i was  one of the six wonderful peer leaders for Spring 2013 FLITE class. The experience of being a peer leader is one that i will never forget, I got to see First Year Leaders grow and realize their true potential. I also got to bond with my fellow peer leaders who were very supportive and instrumental in my success as a peer leader.

 

As a Consultant in SOLC i got the oprtunity to parnter up with other talented and skilled students to plan, organize and execute retreats for several student organizations at URI. I learned how to cater to the goals and missions of a variety of student groups. Although their goals for the retreats might be different my fellow classmates and i were able to utilize materials and skills we learned in class when planning for retreats. 

 

The HDF 412 capstone class reallly gave me nsight on how to handle and cope with issues as a leader. The class was broken down into three Modules, each module adressed several components within leadership that are crucial to the develoepment of any leader. The modules covered proper methods of having a crucial conversation, how to be an ally and also how to handle crisis situations. As continue on with my education on to gradaute school this course will have been very beneficial. 

 

Last but not least, HDF 492 was were I was taxed with gathering all my leadership teachings and experiences, organizaing that information and present it using a theme. This class gave me the chance to reflect on all my leadeship experiences thus far.
